Covid 19, a career break, and a complete change in direction gave me the impetus to enagage and develop my own garden.

I am lucky enough to live in a block of flats that has an eNclosed courtyard garden. Although it had been neglected for many years and has no surface soil, it is blessed with a decent sized raised bed and an absolutley magnificent acer tree in a circular central bed. thank you 1990’s owners!

using this starting point and with no expensive structural changes or hard landscaping, my aim was to turn it into something beautiful and a space my neighbours and i can enjoy.

every part of the process has been a joy. from the big clear out, to regenerating the soils, to experimenting with the planting and seeing what has worked (and of course what hasn’t!)
